Ησίοδος θεογονια 115
“Tell me these things, Muses who dwell in the Olympian halls, from the beginning — and tell me which of them came to be first.”
-Hesiod theogony 115
Kronos, the youngest Titan birthed from Gaia and Uranus, ambushed his father and defeated him with his mighty scythe, the sharpest blade in the cosmos. At the moment of his downfall Uranus made a prophecy: “you will have the same fate as me son, your undoing will come from your youngest child”
And so Kronos, in order to rule the world for all eternity began to eat his offspring at the time of their birth; Hera, Hestia, Demeter, Poseidon, Hades, all had the same fate. But there was one that slipped away, the youngest, Zeus with the help of his mother was hidden away growing stronger by the day and planning his revenge. In order to free his siblings, he plotted with the goddess Metis and poisoned Kronos, resulting in the release of the gods hidden inside his stomach.
This is the begining of the war known as Titanomachia,a battle of epic proportions that shatters mountains and move the seas. The Titans with their leader Kronos, against the gods and giants, with Zeus at the helm. The gods are barely hanging on in front of the wrath of Kronos and his Scythe “the sickle of time”, are they going to be put back in chains or will they find freedom and take control of their fate under the leadership of Zeus.
